Her Kindness Towards Animals Truly Inspires Me

Sahana Ravishankar is an Attorney-at-Law by profession who has an undying passion for helping all kinds of animals. Especially cats and dogs. I first connected with her on Facebook about a year or so back after seeing a post about two pups who were rescued and needed "furrever homes" as she affectionately refers to it. Feeding the hungry Most of her good deeds revolve around feeding street dogs and cats who would otherwise more or less suffer of starvation and die. Her feeding rounds are regular and require so much effort to carry out. My mom and I once gave a small treat to five street doggies a few months back and that required quite a bit of effort. Buying the food, transporting it, finding the dogs, giving them the food without inconveniencing the public, and ensuring you leave no waste behind. It's a process! Adoption and Re-homing Not only feeding, she adopts helpless cats and dogs too. Caring for them until she finds people she can trust to take care of ...

Studying vs Learning | Is It The Same Thing? | Let's Find Out!

Remember the times we memorized the content of our school subjects just days before term tests began? Our only focus was to remember as much as we can so we could answer all the questions in the exam and get the highest possible results or “Just to pass”. Most of you must be remembering the brilliant “hand gestures” you and your pals used during MCQ exams to gather the answers for questions that made you go “what on earth does that mean!?”. Those were the times, weren’t they? Many years have passed now and most of us may be pursuing higher education, working, or even contemplating what we want to do in life. However, there’s something important (in my humble opinion) should grab your attention. This can be an insight that will help you or your juniors in doing better in life. Studying Cramming, cramming, cramming, and cramming to pass an exam. Is what it means to most. Even I am guilty of studying a certain subject just for the “sake of it” or just to pass an exam. Why? Becaus...

Three Magical Words | Do You Know What They Are?

Eighteen years ago when I was in grade three, we were at our English class when the teacher (Miss Nalani) told us about something we'd never forget (at least I didn't). These three words were very simple to say back then and didn't really get why they were supposed to be "Magical words". However, as I matured I realized that these words get tougher to say. It's Difficult Sometimes The reason is that to say these words we need to put ourselves in a position which demands us to be humble and sometimes when confronted with certain situations can be a very tough thing to do. Trust me though, if you are able to say these words freely, it is bound to make life easier for you. Revelation So please consider this thought, thank you for reading this article of mine and I am sorry if I made you wonder what those three magical words were and left you with nothing. To be honest I did not. The answer is in this paragraph. Were you able to find them? hint - the...

Attorney-at-Law Manendra Madena on Why it pays to be well-dressed

I caught up with one of my best buddies who I personally consult with when I'm in need of fashion advise so that he could give YOU some tips on why It’s important for you to take good grooming practices and your outfits seriously. First Impressions count Being well-dressed can convey positive signals to others around you, regardless of what kind of occasion it is. Be it a wedding, conference, meeting, or even an interview, you need to show respect towards the people around you. One way of doing this is by being well-groomed and well dressed. These non-verbal cues are as important as the finesse you want to display in your knowledge about things and how you speak. Remember to complement your personality with what you wear and how you choose to wear it! Confidence Something even I personally have experienced is that when you are well-dressed or wear what you really like, there is this sense of confidence that you notice within. This form of confidence will only add to your ...

This Is How Dogs Show Gratitude

A homeless pup There once was an abandoned pup roaming the street I lived on. This fella would have been around six months old at the time. Whenever I passed him, I would feel sorry and offer him some food (if I had any).  Kindness of people A few months passed, and now he has been taken in by the kind monks at the Buddhist Temple opposite the top of my lane. He now has a nice red belt around his neck and looks happy and content. An act of gratitude to remember One morning when I was standing by the main road (Opposite the Temple) for my office transport to arrive, I saw this dog. He crossed the road (using the pedestrian crossing very carefully) and walked towards me. Then he kept his paw on my shoe and looked up at me as if to say, “Hi there, how are you? I remember you! I am doing good as you can see” I patted his head for a brief few seconds. Then off he went back to the temple proudly and happily. Not all people will remember your kind deeds, but one thing is...
