The Mercedes Benz Experience | Dimo 800 | Sri Lanka

As an avid car enthusiast, I saw an opportunity when I heard that my friend Praveen Fernando joined the state-of-the-art Mercedes Benz Sri Lanka showroom (run by Dimo 800) as a Sales Consultant. He followed his passion for cars and gets to be with them most of the day! I so badly wanted a tour around the facility and told my friend about this. He was more than glad to invite me over. I even applied for leave (during the busiest times) to experience the new showroom! I remember driving to the location, and I was stunned seeing the architecture of the building with a massive structure of the “three-pointed star” badge right on top of the roof. Feeling at home I wasn’t going to buy a car that day although I do aspire to someday in the future. My friend was to meet me in 10 minutes (I was 30 minutes early as usual) and I sat down in the customer lounge overlooking an array of brand new Mercedes cars and SUVs. I was given a nice cup of coffee and was so lovely to see the Merce...

Her Kindness Towards Animals Truly Inspires Me

Sahana Ravishankar is an Attorney-at-Law by profession who has an undying passion for helping all kinds of animals. Especially cats and dogs. I first connected with her on Facebook about a year or so back after seeing a post about two pups who were rescued and needed "furrever homes" as she affectionately refers to it. Feeding the hungry Most of her good deeds revolve around feeding street dogs and cats who would otherwise more or less suffer of starvation and die. Her feeding rounds are regular and require so much effort to carry out. My mom and I once gave a small treat to five street doggies a few months back and that required quite a bit of effort. Buying the food, transporting it, finding the dogs, giving them the food without inconveniencing the public, and ensuring you leave no waste behind. It's a process! Adoption and Re-homing Not only feeding, she adopts helpless cats and dogs too. Caring for them until she finds people she can trust to take care of ...

Studying vs Learning | Is It The Same Thing? | Let's Find Out!

Remember the times we memorized the content of our school subjects just days before term tests began? Our only focus was to remember as much as we can so we could answer all the questions in the exam and get the highest possible results or “Just to pass”. Most of you must be remembering the brilliant “hand gestures” you and your pals used during MCQ exams to gather the answers for questions that made you go “what on earth does that mean!?”. Those were the times, weren’t they? Many years have passed now and most of us may be pursuing higher education, working, or even contemplating what we want to do in life. However, there’s something important (in my humble opinion) should grab your attention. This can be an insight that will help you or your juniors in doing better in life. Studying Cramming, cramming, cramming, and cramming to pass an exam. Is what it means to most. Even I am guilty of studying a certain subject just for the “sake of it” or just to pass an exam. Why? Becaus...

Three Magical Words | Do You Know What They Are?

Eighteen years ago when I was in grade three, we were at our English class when the teacher (Miss Nalani) told us about something we'd never forget (at least I didn't). These three words were very simple to say back then and didn't really get why they were supposed to be "Magical words". However, as I matured I realized that these words get tougher to say. It's Difficult Sometimes The reason is that to say these words we need to put ourselves in a position which demands us to be humble and sometimes when confronted with certain situations can be a very tough thing to do. Trust me though, if you are able to say these words freely, it is bound to make life easier for you. Revelation So please consider this thought, thank you for reading this article of mine and I am sorry if I made you wonder what those three magical words were and left you with nothing. To be honest I did not. The answer is in this paragraph. Were you able to find them? hint - the...
